Our First Visit to C.R. Sandidge Wines

During a recent summer weekday, my friend Dawn and I wandered into C.R. Sandidge Wines in Manson. I’ve been wanting to come taste wine here for so long, and was glad to see the winery open!

Tasting room associate Laura welcomed us and ushered us onto the back patio, where we met (at a careful social distance) a nice family visiting to taste wine too.

We tasted “Glam Gams” Rose, fell in love with “Caris” which is a blend of Cab Franc, Malbec and Merlot; we bought “Sabrina” white wine to take back to our lake house that evening; and we were impressed by “Whistle Punk” which is a Merlot-dominant blend with Malbec and Petite Syrah. Dawn especially liked the Malbec-dominant “Triumph” red wine blend.

When I learned that C.R. Sandidge makes a sparkling Washington wine, I couldn’t resist purchasing a bottle to take home for my sparkling wine collection. (I hope to open them at a safely social distanced backyard brunch one of these mornings!)

Laura chatted with us about how winemaker Ray Sandidge is now helping make wine at Tsillan Cellars – cool! We enjoyed talking with Laura and learning about the winery’s history and current wine lineup.

We didn’t want to hog the small patio table for an unfair amount of time, so we didn’t linger. I’m eager to go back next time I bring a friend to the Lake Chelan wine valley!
